Welcome back This is for all the http://www.tunerhonda.com/ customers and visitors. Today I'm going to discuss the things that I like to do on an old Honda remodel. I like to start out buying a cheap Honda preferably at the auction or from the news paper classifieds. Usually these are the best places to get a deal, if I go to the auction I have to take some one that is licensed to buy at the auction and those kind of people are always looking to make a buck of you so unless you have a good friend who will charge you a relatively low amount of money for there services, "they got to eat too" or my personal favorite the classifieds. This is where you are going to get the best deals ever; I will discuss buying cars from classifieds in a future article.

Well once you get your car the first thing you have to do no matter if the previous owner said they did or not , you have to give your car a tune up and an oil change immediately, this will start to get the bugs out of your purchase. There's nothing worse than to start putting money in to a car that doesn't run right or makes all kinds of mechanical noises. .

Once you have the engine situation settled I suggest getting some new wheels, you may ask why wheels first? Well if you haven't noticed out on the streets of your town were you see old beat up cars with some nice wheels, and every one stares.Don't deny it people! just like a suit makes the man the wheels make the car. This will also make you a little more motivated to continue your project, it's psychological, why? Well I rather spend $1500.00 on something I can see than on something I can't. Yes I know that a turbo kit would be a great investment for your project car, but you can see it unless you open the hood, besides wheels are out there for everyone to see and become great openers for conversations that might arise about your project car. This will keep you motivated. Most of the people that start project cars don't finish and it's not because they don't have money they just lose interest because they can't see what they're doing and lose focus. .

The next thing I like to do is send the car out for body work. Know this is dependent on whether or not you have a lot of engine work to be done still and how much or how fast you want to make your Honda. Now this is entirely up to you, myself I have had enough of mayor engine work just to end up getting a whole bunch of ticket, Don't get me wrong I enjoy speed as much as the next guy but I rather keep it on the track it's a lot safer and less costly on tickets. So like I was saying I like to send it to the paint shop, now this is a very important thing that has to be taken very seriously. Why? you ask ,this is your project car this isn't something to take likely and have look like everyone else, you want it to be as custom as possible, a fresh idea something that no one have ever seen or something you like that will be unique, So please don't go to the top paint shops like AAMCO . Now I have nothing against AAMCO but these people are good for fixing conventional paint jobs, form accidents or general touch ups. Please don't go to these guys for a custom job (candy paint, graphics, or two tone jobs or whatever you want) go to the shops that have good reputations doing this sort of work, these shops are usually small and owned and operated by some of the sickest artist I have ever seen ("forget Leonardo").There also a good source of ideas for your project car these guys are usually extremely creative and very meticulous about their jobs. So hit the street and ask around for these guys every town has one or two and they are always willing to work with you if your spark there interest. Also remember that the outside paint job sets the pace for the interior work. .

I would have to say that the next step is interior design. This is a bit more tricky, because there so many options out there. What I would do is look at my tapestry, and asks myself do I want the car to look fast or classy. If you want your car to look fast there are many out of the box solutions in racing car seats which will make your ride look and feel fast as hell, all though I like fast I prefer going for classy. Why I like women and they don't enjoy being crammed in to a bucket racing seat, they will do it for a little bit but it gets old quick (trust me I no longer install bucket seats on my rides). All that aside I generally look at my Honda on the inside and ask myself what can I do with my tapestry do I want to go simple or do I want to go all out with it, I usually go all out, I'll start with redoing the seats in leather with something embroidered on the head rest and the back rest part right were you seat usually either my nickname (morogoyo) on the head rest and Honda emblem with a little twist, either something going across it or thru it, be creative it's your project. I also would get a new dash trim kit to complement my seats and make my interiors stand out. What I usually do is get the dash trim kit that looks like wood and get the matching steering wheel for it or steering wheel cover to fit it, I rather go with the custom steering wheel to match the dash trim kit. There's also other options like the designer kits, but be careful with those kits because they look great but if you upholstery doesn't match it could throw the balance of your interiors out of wak. But if you like that go for it's your project Honda car and it should make you feel good and confident. *** Very important take care of your floorings I have seen some great custom jobs being ruined by an old looking carpet***. this is the parts were you go in and install all the electronics wish to have in your car,dvd players, amps ,cross over's, head rest TVs ,well you get the picture, remember the thing to a project car is to make it as custom and original as possible.

The next step is entirely up to you; this part of the car is rarely seen. I'm talking about the engine, now remember that we had just done our tune up and oil change and corrected any major issues with the engine. So now if you choose to customize your engine, I have some suggestions: air intake, a bolt on turbo kit with intercooler, send some parts to be chromed and new hoses in colors that complement the rest of the work you have done on the car like the paint job. The engine is a very personal thing that each one of you will have to decide what you need to do to it.

Well I hope this has been useful to all of you and remember this are only my opinion and my experiences, do it right and do it uniquely ****Remember it's your project car don't let anyone tell you it doesn't look right ****
